Hospital

Label 1 BBC Two 19.01.17

Full post production on 6 x 60-minute fast turnaround series for BBC Two.

Colourist, Dan Gill graded the fast turnaround series using Digital Visions’ Nucoda to establish a realistic, yet inviting clinical feel within each episode. During the operating theatre based scenes, the grade was explored in more detail and various Nucoda colour tools were used to create a heightened dramatic appearance. Gill created this natural guise throughout to highlight the realities of life within the confines of the hospital.

Using the Graded Master from Gill, Editor Tom Lucas, completed the online using Avid Symphony. Lucas used Symphony to blur non-consenting parties, and apply the look for the Astons and Titles.

Dubbing Mixer, Tristan Powell, completed the mix using ProTools HDX version 12, on the Avid S6 console. Powell utilised iZotope De-Noising plug-ins to heighten and clarify the dialogue, which may have otherwise been lost in the ambience of a busy Hospital environment. Combining the music, sync and atmosphere FX, Powell worked closely with the production team from Label 1, to keep the tension flowing throughout the series and fully immerse the viewer within the hospital environment.
